The Family Resource Center offers a variety of no-cost programs and services to children, youth, and families who reside in the communities served by the Rowland Unified School District. The Family Resource Centers are open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. until 4:30 p.m.to provide health-related information, referrals and resources through grants and agencies.

Department of Children and Family Services Social Worker

  • Healthy Start- Community Liaisons serve families at all schools, providing resources for counseling, parenting education, substance abuse prevention, health/dental services, support for school attendance, low cost health insurance, and after-school programs. Morning Break Clubs at Healthy Start Schools provide speakers and a forum for discussion about issues related to health, safety, and education.
  • First 5- Designed to help parents prepare their children from birth to age five for school and the First 5 program, which provides resources, educational/literacy programs, child-development information, access to medical services, special needs referrals, and parent group support. Resource kits are available free of charge, in multiple languages with videos and materials to enhance the skills of parents. The First 5 Story Mobile van visits local neighborhoods, providing a variety of literacy experiences for preschool children.
  • Primary Intervention Program (PIP) - Located at 13 elementary schools, PIP is a positive intervention program for children in kindergarten-3rd grade who are at risk for social/school adjustment difficulties.
  • Mckinney-Vento Homeless Education Act - Resources and support are provided for families who are identified as living in transition, doubled up, or in substandard housing arrangements. The program seeks to ensure consistent school attendance and academic success through after-school programs, weekly Family Fun Nights, and providing needed resources to children.

Immunizations are free and available on a walk-in basis. Physical exams are given by appointment. Immunizations and medical care for:  throat, eye and ear infections, acne, lice, scabies, hives, anemia, ringworm, etc. *Always bring your child’s Immunization Record!
